Nimbu Pani Margarita

“This drink has a magical power. It strengthens the weak, and revives those who have fainted. Those tired after work and physical activity can return their life forces by this drink much sooner than by nourishment. …”

– Carolus Linnaeus (18th-century physician documenting the effects of the drink)

It was a cold winter night, and I was reading some of my favorite blogs. A general cold winter evening thing to do when you are waiting for the Hubz to come back from a long day at work. So I was waiting and reading and landed on Barb’s post on her beautiful blog Creative Culinary,  And on her page awaited me the gorgeous Blood Orange Margarita.

I kept waiting and hoping that the in house resident mixologist ( read husband) will come home soon I will get him to make it for me. But he was inching his way home in the heavy traffic and I was getting restless by the minute.  The drink was calling me, loud and clear and the fact that I had a couple of blood oranges resting on the counter was just adding fuel to the fire.

So I thought to myself, “ I should try this” and an inner voice said “No” You must wait. He will be home soon! But if I ever listened to the sane inner voice, I would not be in the trouble that I am in now.

Trouble? You ask?

Well if I had waited for him, I would still be the damsel in distress who needed the guy to fix her drink and serve it to her. I could pull my feet up, remote in hand, watch some “new girl” episodes and drink my drink. But NO! I did not listen to the voice. I went ahead and made the dang drink!

I tried my best to make it as pretty looking as Barbs’s but as you can see I couldn’t. I assure you it was a great tasting one

The rest is history! We loved the blood orange Margarita so much that we made it often while the blood orange season lasted. And then the ploy that I don’t know how to mix a drink never worked again. The tables have turned, it is him on the couch now and the remote is in HIS hand and I get asked to make a drink!

Nimbu Pani Margarita

He did however make this very special Nimbu Pani Margarita for Barb to help me celebrate with her – We are all celebrating the 1st birthday of # Friday Cocktails at her blog. Read all about it here  and also check out some celebration gifts.

Next time I would listen to you inner voice.
